Application Process Description
CCIM's Portfolio of Qualifying Experience is a standardized means for candidates to verify the quality of their work as commercial investment professionals and to document having achieved at least the minimum level of experiences required to qualify for the CCIM Designation.

Volume Requirements
CCIM approved a market adjustment to the portfolio volume requirements. This market adjustment is effective until January 1, 2014. All other requirements remain the same. Effective immediately, candidates must document the following.
- Exactly 10 qualifying activities that must total $5 million or more, OR;
- In the event you're not able to provide 10 qualifying activities that total $5 million or more, you must submit 20 qualifying activities without regard to total volume;
Candidates have three options for submitting their CCIM Portfolio of Qualifying Experience:
A person who is not a U.S. or Canadian resident must submit an international portfolio in the traditional format.
Streamlined – The Streamlined Portfolio is only available for Commercial Real Estate Professionals with five (5) or more years in the commercial real estate industry.
- Submit Streamlined online application
- Submit a professional resume of real estate experience (employment history)
- Submit a summary of your qualifying activities, transactions, projects or work products
- Submit a signed and notarized Affidavit from CFO, CPA or Managing Broker (Affidavits are returned to the candidate for uploading)
- Provide a detailed explanation of role and responsibilities in your position
- Provide three recommendation forms from a:
- CCIM Designee (who does not work in the same firm or is related to you)
- Client (someone whom you have worked for in a professional capacity)
- Local chapter representative (or authorized representative)
Candidates that are submitting Residential Investment income activity MUST use the traditional format.
Candidates that are submitting Commercial Lease Renewals MUST use the traditional format.

Traditional – The traditional is for those Commercial Real Estate Professionals regardless of time in the commercial real estate industry.
- Submit online application
- Submit a professional resume of real estate experience (employment history)
- Submit activity data form for each activity
- Submit a summary of qualifying activities, transaction, projects or work products
- Provide copies of closing or settlement for each activity
- Provide a detailed explanation of role and responsibilities in your position
- Provide a recommendation from the local chapter representative (or authorized representative)
- Provide at least two proofs of material participation in each activity. Examples include:
- Commission checks
- Signature on settlement or closing documents
- Copy of deed showing candidate as grantee or grantor
- Signed listing agreement with candidates name
- Notarized statement from client or supervisor

- Candidates that are submitting Commercial Lease Renewals MUST use the traditional format.

Non-Transactional Commercial Professionals
This category is made up of those high-level full time commercial professionals whose primary function is a substantial contribution to commercial property which does not include brokering actual transactions.
This category will include:
- Asset Managers/Portfolio Managers
- Commercial Property Tax Consultants
- Corporate Real Estate Department (Leaders/Officers)
- Managing Brokerage Officers/Managers of large firms
The application process is:
- Submit Streamlined Online application
- Submit a professional resume of real estate experience (employment history) for the past five years
- Submit Affidavit which includes verification of at least five years with the same title
- Provide a detailed explanation of role and responsibilities in your position
- Provide a company organizational chart
- Provide three recommendation forms, one from each of the following:
- CCIM Designee (who does not work in the same firm or is related to you)
- Client (someone whom you have worked for in a professional capacity)
- Local chapter representative (or authorized representative)
Candidates that are submitting Residential Investment income activity MUST use the traditional format.
Candidates that are submitting Commercial Lease Renewals MUST use the traditional format.

The Resume, Organizational Chart, Roles and Responsibilities and Supplemental forms can be submitted/uploaded in any format and are not provided by CCIM.
PDF files must be downloaded and saved to your computer.
Simply click the link to the PDF and go to File > Save As.
The Summary of Transactions Form must be in EXCEL FORMAT (tryingto upload a PDF file will result in error).
Once the forms are completed, PDFs can be uploaded back to the Portfolio website.
If you do not save the files to your computer, any information you enter may be lost when closing the PDF.
